With the ongoing changes in health care and education, school nurses need to find ways to share what we know, what we are doing and to support one another.  This page is designed  to share ideas on improving school nurse practice.  School nurses are welcome to use or expand on the ideas shared on this website, but please give credit to the person who developed and shared the idea.

School nurses are encouraged to share ideas to be posted for other nurses to use.  Please share ideas via guest books or e-mail me directly.
                                                            Thank you!
                                                            Susan Smith, RN, BSN, MAEd

New!  4/28/08  Our nursing colleague, Julia Dahoudi from the Victoria International School of Sharjah in the UAE has shared her newsletter article on Sun Sense.  Be sure to see her newsletter and consider how you can promote sun safety to your students.

New - 3/08 A great poem to start your personal hygiene class from Janet Gordon, LPN from Sylacauga, Alabama.  Click on the Lesson Plan link and look for " Where's the Funk?".

Do you have ideas or programs you would be willing to share with other school nurses?  E-mail your ideas to ssmithsn@hotmail.com.

I sometimes receive e-mails requesting ideas for solving dilemmas that we often face as school nurses.  I do my best to share my thoughts and ideas.  Sometimes when I reply to those e-mails, the e-mail is returned because of server issues, thus it looks like I did not respond.  It occurred to me that there are many "experts" who view this website and it would be great to open a dialogue to help each other.  This particular website does not support a blog or other interactive types of dialogue, but if you have answers, please post them on the guestbook on our new "Ask-a-Nurse"  page.  Your answers will be posted!
